Good..but not great..

Out of the three games I bowled last evening (Friday 11/26), I bowled a 193. That was the highest. The last game was crap. Didn't hit my average, but who's counting?  By the middle of the second game, my back started hurting.  I had Colleen put some Salonpas(tm) on the area which helped greatly pain-wise, but didn't do a thing for my crappy bowling.

Do I need a new ball? Who knows..

I can't believe that I'm doing a blog on bowling. I must be desperate for attention (not that I'm getting any) ..or something.

I mean, how sad is that?

Last weekend..

..was Colleen's tournament at AMF Broadway Lanes. She had to bowl four games. Unfortunately, she was having problems hitting her mark since the lane conditions were heavy on the oil so the ball wouldn't snap at the right moment. This in turn would cause her to be more and more discouraged.

In bowling, attitude can also mean the difference from having a fun game to a crappy one. It can also taint your whole bowling experience and make a difference in your handling and delivering the ball down the lane. Like I probably said before, I'm not a pro at this, only a league bowler who has to deal with his own problems, failures and successes when it comes to this game.

As for Colleen's last weekend tournament, she scored in the very low 100's. Her average is around 146, so needless to say...it was a lost cause.

More next time!!

To start this blog off..

Bowling sucks.

You get all the nifty crap from the pro shop..a new bag, a new ball with some reaction, new shoes, a glove or two..and you still can hit your mark for the love of Zombie Jesus.  I basically blame the lane conditions. A heavy oil can make for some pretty lousy bowling if your ball won't snap at the right time. I can't explain it. I tried everything from changing my stance to out and out french kissing the ball on the thumb hole...clockwise...NADA...

I only use one ball. I have two, but the other is your basic polyester, 14 pounds no-frills orb. The one I'm using is a Storm Tropical. Tropicals have some reaction, but I've come to the point that I need more reaction because my actual physical condition has changed.  Also my ball has already been resurfaced a couple times and the ball's graphics are starting to be rubbed away.

In league, I'll bowl great the first game, but exceedingly get worse in the second and third games. My average is 149. My best game was 247, and I have an award for hitting the 600 series mark (Thanks USBC...a magnet..oh joy..) Remember when they gave out those nifty patches and pins? *sigh*  I also have small awards (magnets) for 150, 175, 200 and 225 games. Man..what does a guy have to do to get an actual trophy that he can sit on his mantle?  Way back when I was a toddler, my mom bowled in a league or two and brought home a few trophies..but that was the early 60's, and I think all the bowling trophy mines have been tapped out by now...just sayin'...

Stay tuned..
